Air America files for Chapter 11

From WSJ’s Washington Wire:

Air America Radio, a liberal talk and news radio network, filed Friday for bankruptcy-court protection in Manhattan.

The network and its parent, Piquant LLC, filed for Chapter 11 after Air America’s investors decided to pull the plug on the money-losing broadcaster. The network had denied rumors just a month ago that it would file for bankruptcy, but on Friday said negotiations with a creditor from the company’s early days had broken down.

No word yet on how this affects the shows. WCHL in Chapel Hill (1360 AM) and WPEK in Asheville (880 AM) broadcast several shows in the AA lineup, including the Al Franken Show.

WCHL might need to use more “local” filler. Maybe a former editor of a local independent weekly?

Only if I can do the whole show using a helium balloon voice.

    I’d listen.

OK, now stop that–I’m trying to remain gainfully underemployed.
