The real Floyd Lupton

Floyd Lupton, the man for whom the ferry involved in the VIP-Tall-Ships-cruise scandal was named, died a little more than a year ago.
As the Washington Daily News and other papers noted at the time, Lupton, as chief of staff for Walter Jones, Sr., was eastern NC’s go-to guy. Now Lupton’s name is being sullied by a bunch of partying pols and all because Governor Hunt went and named a ferry after him in 1994. (The Gov. Hunt, by the way, only carries half of the number of cars as the Lupton.) Like I said in a recent story, if you were a VIP, the Tall Ships probably were great, but if you were in steerage, it was hit and miss.
Latest on the ferry ride: The Governor is steamed.
